Filtering water for your RV

Hey all,

Well the wife and I finally did it, we purchased a new 5th wheel. We opted for a 3400 Big Horn made by Heartland. 37’ 12. 5K loaded. The Dully pulls it like a dream. With 2. 5K pin weight the box only drops 2”. I am getting about 12. 5MPG, combo city / highway driving. How does the mileage sound? The tow hull works like a champ on the highway, however I found it better to drop it in 2nd when driving in town, 40mph or slower. Currently we are setup for two weeks at Oak Grove RV park at Naval Air Station Pensacola. We have the large pitcher window facing the gulf of Mexico which is about 200 yards away. (What a view!) Life is good. If anyone has any towing ,handling or other questions about our rig please ask away. Like the 3500, we did a ton of research on 5th wheel before we made the buy.

I have to share this with you all. I just watched a couple with a F250 PSD 4X4 drive in the park with a 40’ tow huller. The truck is crushed, wheel-well is almost touching the tires. (his front tires are barely touching the ground. (way-to-much trailer for the truck!)

If you say anything you will be branded the weight police. Smile and wave. Pray you don't meet tehm in a bad way :)

Mike,

The caretaker here at my campground has a Landmark by Heartland. Those things are posh and very heavy. Anyway this guy has a 4 door duradud 3/4 ton short bed that he is using to pull that thing. I asked him about the weight of the trailer and the pin weight, he said it's very heavy and that he had to put the helper air bags on it to control the sag. Told me it sits the truck down alot.

My point being is that I think you will be just fine with the weight. The weight of my 5er is the same as yours and I have no problem handling it. One more reason I am glad I have a DRW, the stability is great with my 5er.
