Towing after reflash

Has anyone noticed a difference in towing after having truck reflashed?

Just saw you post.

I did notice a big difference especially in mileage from 11. X up to 13. 3. Plus better all round get up and go.

Thanx for the reply.
I got a towing reflash, and the dealer told me I would really notice it when towing. I already noticed a small increase in mpg without towing.

I think the reflash # was a 18-36-95. I know it doesnt make sense,but my buddy who did it,said it should really help when towing. He told me it's the newest towing flash out.

Big A - Please confirm that 18-36-95 is the correct TSB. Fritz's page doesn't list any number like that and the "95" on the end of your TSB number would appear to have been written in the year 95'. This write date is way too old to have any benefit to 24 valvers.

Like I posted earlier guys, I know it doesnt make since, but so far so good. I'll have to tow with it to tell the power difference. It probably wont run with that EZ or VA #ad

Well Big A and K_Arts it's almost a month since you posted this, any more news, does this reflash work or is it just another flash in the pan from DC to try keep us quiet. Really need to know my mileage sucks, I would have been better off buying a semi with my mileage and i would have better performance to boot. Regards, Ron

The only thing that I have noticed is this, I have noticed more bottom end power, but unlike Big A, I have seen no increase in MPG.

What can I do to get my MPG up? Cause this 15 MPG i'm getting really SUX.

Just to give you some fuel numbers. Travelling to Bill K's, I got 17. 3mpg and coming home with DD2's and Bill's setup, I got 18. 6mpg. These numbers were calculated manually with at the speed of 75mph.

I had a reflash for lack of power in OD, the number was 18-024-00. So what is 18-36-95. This reflash didn't help.

Sorry to hear the reflash did not work, i was hopeing. I will say that i am a little jealous of your 17 mpg and 18. 5 mpg, at this point 18. 5 mpg would give me wood, i get 15mpg driveing like a sunday little old lady and 7mpg towing. I know, I know, everyone tells me there is something wrong with my truck but no solutions as of yet. I have been to three different dealers, they changed the lift pump, two dealers reflashed my ecm and pcm, they hook up there diagnostic scan tool and find nothing wrong. I had my truck to cummins and they dynoed it at 171hp chrysler says within specs nothing we can do. Right now i am talking to customer service ( the one in our owners manual ) and i am going to see if they will agree to change out my 3:54 gears to 4:10's and see if that helps. this board is terrific maybe some day most of our problems will get resolved if not i still own a great truck, no other problems with the truck.

Sorry to hear that this reflash didn't help you. Keep in mind that I had a different Reflash then Big A. I believe that mine was something like 18-35-96. I don't remember the middle number but it seems right. I know that mine was definately 18-xx-96 though.

To be honest with you, I am not sure what changes are in the reflash, but I was told that it is a towing reflash and should improve my bottom end, but also give me a little better fuel economy. Yes it did improve my bottom end. . but my mileage didn't change. Which really sucks. Boy do I wish that I could get my hands on the 18-11-99 relash. I was told many times that this one is supposed to be a really good one.

Just had my ecm reflashed to 18-11-99 and my pcm reflashed to 18-25-99 and if everything goes good i will be towing on Monday and will let you know if there is any change. Regards, Ron

Well, it is reflashed, ecm & pcm. cost $80 smackers. When I asked what # I was told it was on the EPA sticker under the hood. The EPA sticker says " ECM reflashed fom CD " " PCM reflashed from CD " with no notation of any #s, They obviously had the lot boy do it.
When I get back from Tulsa next week I will have a talk with the lack of service manager.
edit: on the receipt it it says " check for flash 6 - 1 - 0 flashed pcm & ecm per tsb "

I was told the towing reflash is not really noticeable,till you put a heavy load on the truck. It has something to do with the wastegate.

Went to my Dealer with 18-36-95 and he told me to save the $40. An old TSB that has nothing to do with 24 valve engines. I did!
