6 Pack Campers?

I live in Ontario and my 1 ton dually is licenced commercial in this province. If I want to hook up my 5th wheel and travel into the States for vacation what are the rules for this.

Thanks in advance

Kirk

I don't think you need to do anything but come on down & spend your $$. You won't be haulin for hire so there are no need to be concerned aboout port of entries or scales. Just hook up & come on down & enjoy your vacation.

Most states (Texas included) exempt personal-use RVs from commercial requirements, so you won't have to worry about going through the scales, needing a CDL, etc. Generally speaking, the United States operates under the principle of reciprocity through an agreement called the Driver License Compact. In a nutshell, this says that, if you're legal in your home state, you're legal in the other Compact member states through which you travel.

We see lots of RVs with Canadian plates down here, so hitch up and c'mon down!! :-laf

I agree with what RustyJC said. You should check with your insurance carrier or gov't. to see if you are allowed personal use on your commercial plates. I know that here in Saskatchewan we are. The only problem I have had is in B. C. (bring cash) where they are just down right difficult. I travel into the states a lot with my 5th. wheel camper and I have had no problems.

I had to chuckle when I read your comment above. I particularly like your description: "bring cash. " You perfectly described my experiences in BC delivering new travel trailers and fifth wheels into and through BC.
