for those of you who are towing heavy, what clutch are you running? in case you have not figured it out it is time for one:{ thanks for all input.

I still have the original clutch. The power is stock too, but I do pull 4 & 5 horse trailers, 24 ft. GN flatbed with loads in excess of 14k lbs. When the clutch goes, I'll probably go with a South Bend, as I have read good things on here about them. You might try a search for "Clutches". That should keep you reading for days.

We're towing 21,180 GCW and still have the stock clutch - it's never slipped. When the time comes for replacement, I'll probably go with whatever Peter at South Bend Clutch recommends. :D

13" OFE

The 13" CON OFE is great. The center disc is extremely beefy with the torsional springs way outboard to make it stiff and capable of great torque. The pedal action is normal, control is good for backing and creeping, and it WILL HOLD. Highly recommend it.

Save you money and when your ready... talk to Peter at SBC. That 13" Con OFE is the one that will hold the load... After you install the Con OFE. . thats one part of the drive train that you can forget!

thanks for all the input. after much thought,some input from you all, and a call to peter... ... ... ... ... south bend it will be!

so much for getting the exhaust brake this week, it turned into a clutch:(

now where do i get a line up tool for one of these? and any volunteers for the install:eek:

i know... ... NOT:{

I have the same as BPINE and Drees1. You won't be disappointed with Southbend. I tow heavy on a daily basis and have 400+hp. A great clutch.

South Bend Clutch

I've got about 3000 miles at just over 435 HP on the South Bend 13" con ofe, so far its proven to be a great clutch for towing:D :D

South Bend now has clutches that hold to well over 500+ hp. I run mid 13's on the drag strip and tow other race trucks with it to events. Left Colorado last month towing the ATS D-max to the Southern Nationals in Georgia. Weighed in at 19,800 with everything and no slipping. Engagement was also very good (almost stock feeling). This is not just a race truck it is my daily driver, and I drive in excess of 70k a year.
