I have lost the power to my towing connector 12v charging pin of the 7 pin connector.
Can anyone confirm the fused circuit name? The fuse I checked was good, but might have not tested the correct fuse.

Also 10 yrs ago I moved the oem wiring harness and connector/housing inside bed for 5th wheel towing. Could one of the wires have disconnected from the harness connector? How would I repair a harness connector?

All advice and experiences welcome.

The fuse is labeled trailer 12V as I remember.... its very common for the connector wires to come loose... I solder the end of the wire before I insert it in the connector and than put a drop of loc-tite on the threads to prevent it from working loose... just the wire alone can giggle around and work loose... remove the two bolts that hold the plug in the bed... pull the complete connector into the bed and than pull it apart...

Thanks for the input. I got it after my truck was at the dealer this AM. They did not find anything wrong with the 7-pin connections or wiring. They isolated the problem down to a 22pin connector up front somewhere. Say it is burnt and corroded and needs to be changed out. Special ordered the 2 parts to it today for $150. Don't envy the guy who will have to make 44 perfect new connections with the pigtails provide with the new connectors.

P.S. The OEM Dodge trailer connectors have no screw terminals for wires to the 7-pin. Its probably a sealed up female connector that plugs into the OEM wiring harness thru a 10 pin connector that has all crimped wire connections. Fairly bullet proof way to do it, Id say.

When I read the tech's report that the connector was burned I reflected back on arcing some battery wires one day for some stupid reason, but never found any problem caused by it. Maybe this is the result of that mistake? One would think that the 20A fuse on ckt 19 would have prevented any damage, but maybe not. If it was corroded and arcing while trying to charge my trailer batteries, that would heat and burn the connector too.

Just have to wait until late next week when the parts come in and are installed to see if my problem is fixed. Sure hope so. Oo.

Another suggestion is to use dielectric grease on the connections to prevent corrosion problems. I use it on both 12 volt and 120 volt RV cords.
