Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Towing Kit for BigBlue

I know that there are probably as many answers as TDR members, but I have to ask the question ... because this research is way too confusing for me! From Banks to Western Diesel, there are so many solutions to improve towing and I don't know how to choose.



What would be a good setup on a 2002 6sp to increase towing power without compromising engine life too much.



I have a 12,000lbs 5th wheel and I can pull it with the stock engine, but at times I really wish I had some extra pull.

Welcome to the TDR! The best combo for longevity, performance and reliability (for towing) is the Edge EZ and a set of Bosch 275 injectors. Others will swear by the DD2 injectors, but the cost of the 275 injectors is hard to beat. This combo will give you about 90hp more and really wake things up. Be prepared for clutch upgrades though, especially because you tow, the clutch won't live long with the enhancements.
