I have a set of power heated towing mirrors and a set of non powered non heated towing mirrors and my truck is equipped with power heated non-towing mirrors. I have the switches and electrical all there. I just need to know what all I have to do. Thanx in advance.

Gary-

I've heard it is quite a job and would suggest that you send all those pieces to me. ;) :D Having purchased a spare set of power heated non-towing mirrors earlier on, I just can't justify buying two more sets of mirrors for the conversion. When your done, it will be real  though!

It can be quite a job, and it's not an "after work" thing. My truck is still mirror-less and apart after a month of Sundays working on them. I can't wait till they work, though!

An addition to the posted instructions: after getting mine apart, it was clear that the casting changed somewhere along the line for the 3rd-gen mirrors. Quite a bit of material has to be removed to get them to seat together correctly. I've been taking pictures all along and hope to post them soon. I'm sure several out there would be interested in seeing them.

Has anyone thought of maybe swapping out the mirror heads instead?

Yes, I have. It is the same one-way nut at the flip-up part. I looked at this and figured it was almost the same amount of effort to accomplish the job. For my project, it looked harder to get to the nut back on at the head, than it was at the knuckle. I would like to know if anyone has tried this approach. To get to the nut at the head, the glass has to be removed on the manual mirror. I didn't want to get into that, so I went with the knuckle swap.
