I need some good towing mirrors for my '92. With the camper on, it's kinda hard to back a small fishing boat down the dock with the stock mirrors... . not to mention just seeing the **** thing while driving - I keep thinking the hitch failed several miles back.

When I was looking for my truck, I saw a 1st Generation with some really nice towing mirrors - they were all metal, and clamped to the factory mirrors instead of the slip-on plastic CIPA-type pieces. I've tried every search engine I can think of, but still haven't found what I'm looking for. Anyone have any links or some place to start? I know I can fire up the welder and fab something, but it sure would be nice to just order them instead. :D

Mirrors

Dan,

One way you can go is reverse the tubes that currently support the mirrors. Takes 3 or 4 hours per side. After that you must fit a 5" convex mirror between the mirror and the door as you will have a large blind spot beside you.

I did both doors on my '93 over three years ago, never used the slide ons since, even when towing a 5th wheel.

Get back to me if you need more info on reversing the tubes.

Ian.

Ian - Thanks for the reply. I had considered reversing the tubes, but things are already tight getting in and out of the garage,:( so I really need something that can be removed when not needed.

I just picked up a set of these - I read they work pretty well, so I'll give them a shot this weekend... . but I kept my receipt, just in case. ;)

Reverse Supports

Ian,

Do you have a picture of the mirrors with the reversed support brackets? I am interested. I gave up on the west coast mirrors because of the holes in the doors and adding new holes to the doors. Thanks.

towing mirrors

www.hensleymfg.com,

mckesh mirrors, not cheap but from the research I did, they are the only game in town for removable mirrors. mine work great and can be taken off in a minute. they are known for no vibration and don't harm the finish as long as it is clean when they are put on.
