Does anyone know if the towing mirrors are going to be available with power and a defrost feature? Would there be anyway to modify the hardware from the 6x9's onto the tow mirrors?

Magna Mirro Systems 734-953-3063 x 316 supposedly is coming out with a power/heated towing mirror that bolts up in the place of the current power mirrors and uses the existing harness and controls. They are due out in September.

Probably the only modification you could make would be the defroster. I did it before using resistive wire and epoxy on the back of a west coast style mirror. Just used a serpentine pattern. Worked great. Don't know what you could do about the movement.

Thanks for the info Alan. Do you know if they look like the current towing mirrors? I tried calling the phone # you listed and it came up disconnected.

I just called them. I had the extension wrong #ad
. 734-953-3063 X216. The secretary from h*%% straightened me out.
Anyway, they are 10X10 no convex. You will have to add your own convex mirror. They will pull out 4. 5 inches on both sides if needed for wide loads. He said they would hook into the existing wiring but would not be heated on the initial release. That is planned for later (after they recoup some startup production costs). Release is scheduled for September. They are power adjust.

How do you guys with the fold out towing mirrors like them? I have only seen one truck out on the highway that actually had them extended out when he was towing a trailer. I've seen a handful of people towing 5th wheels and horse trailers that don't have them flipped out? Are they just to lazy to put them out and adjust them or what? Has anyone installed the kit on an older truck like a 95 or know of anyone that has. Even though the power mirrors are nice I'd really like to get a set or the flip outs for my 95 which is the truck I use to tow more often because of the better MPG. So if you have these mirrors or have done the swap to them please send me an email to give me your opinion on them.

Thanks
Kyle

dodge021 - I have the large swing-out style trailer mirrors and they work great for me. Gives you handle to hang on to while cleaning the windshield and a bar to hang your laundry on while camping. To bad they aren't heated. The issue most people have is that the mounting brackets stick out and if your not careful you can wrinkle a door pretty fast - especially if your 4wheeling and tag a tree or other firm surface. I sure like the Power Vision mirrors but too many $$$ for the pocket book. Haven't seem the new tow mirrors but I would have considered them as well.

dodge021,

Love'em!!!!! My hat is off to the person at Dodge who came up with those mirors!! Don't viabrate in the wind either. I have adjusted them so many times between the tow and retracted position that I know just about where to set the mirror glass when changing them. Not only can I see who is behind me, I can see the tires on both sides of my 5er when the they are in the extended position. No blind spots either.

Now if they would be availabe with heated power adjust--WOW!!

Bill
