What shocks have you found that are STIFF and stay that way under hard use? ...

Mark, look into KYB Gas-Ajust. I've been using them for years. In gneeral, I notice they start to loosen up just a bit around 75K miles. I used them on my '84 200SX, '87 FireTurkey, '88 F150 and now on the '98 Ram.

If any of the shocks from my '98 would fit your 1st Gen, I'd ship them out to you. I changed them at 75K miles on General Principle. The take-offs are still pretty darn stiff; I really couldn't tell much difference between them and the new ones!

My transmission was serviced by the folks on King Road just over 2 years and 45,000 km ago. Driving since then is about 25% towing, remainder running empty. While running empty if I'm up to over 10 lb boost ie up the Coquihalla in OD, temp will come up just the same as towing, ie over 230 deg and heading for 260 or higher. Manually downshifting out of OD etc and it cools off again. Not very often does the engine temperature go past the first graduation on the scale unless I'm up near 10 lb in 2 nd and still have the perforated grill blanks fitted.

Your comments re boosting line pressure may be worth checking out. I had the T/Q replaced a year ago, now running empty at 100 km/hr, engine is about 80 rpm less. Since the T/Q replace, can tolerate 2 - 3 lb boost more continuously.

As for maxing out on power, a dyno run a year ago it produced 195 hp at wot, around 25 lb, but as I said, anything over 10 lb will brind the trans temp up to an unacceptable level. Usually I tow around 100 km and the trans. temp is the limiting factor. Something has to max out first, if it was a gasser, be the pedal at the metal. lol.

Anyway, thanks for your comments.
