As a new Ram CTD owner this is old news to some, but worth mentioning anyway!

With 3500 miles on our CTD we towed our 24' Wilderness TT for the first time last week. We haven't been able to use our trailer for the last 12 years because our older Bronco just kept getting "older". Actually, from new it was kind of gutless. Although our trailer is still in "like new" condition because it is kept in our shop, its 5400 lb GVWR was always to much for a 1979 351CID Ford. With the Cummins Dodge the 6% and 7% grades in Northwest CA were a non-issue!! I still grin just thinking of how much fun we had last week! I love this truck! Can't wait to hook up the Wilderness and head off in a different direction!!! ASAP! :D

My Dad had it right! Dodges are the way to go! This 2003 Dodge is highly enginered, assembled well, and moved by a great powerplant! A real keeper in my book!

John,

That's great! I've towed my 25' Sunline nearly 15,000 miles in the past two years with my 97 Ram 2500 gasser and can't wait to get my 04 CTD! The old truck did its job but was a bit short on power in the mountains. I notice you got the green/silver color... thats the combination on my 97 and it still looks great after all these years. I debated about getting one like yours but the family didn't want to hear it! Mine's gonna be silver with the HO 6spd. Next purchase for us will be a Wilderness fifth wheel!

I just returned from a short 700 mile trip pulling my 25 ft cabin cruiser, and pulling long 6-9 percent grades. I love how this truck handles and pulls!!!!!! It is just a very super truck, and I now have 20,000 plus miles, and it is not quite 1 year old.

I towed our 27ft TT last week for the first time into western Md. and it did more than a sufficient job. The towed weight was probably 7-8K pounds with all of the gear. I was able to pass other RV/trailers and even some cars going up hill. truck never even shifted from OD on a few hills. Reason I got this truck was because a CTD went flying by me on one of those hills while pulling our 15 ft camper. It was pulling a 24 ft flatbed loaded with 6 four wheelers. This truck is AWESOME... . almost feel like I should send DC some extra money! NOT.

I also recently towed our 29' TT through the hills in Maryland... . and I still am smiling. We used to tow with a V10 Excursion... which had no problems pulling except for the 6-8mpg while towing. This new CTD pulled as easily as the Excursion... maybe a little easier... . and still got 13mpg doing it. Our trailer comes in at around 10,500 loaded, and it posed absolutely no problem throughout our trip. Enjoy these trucks!

'03 2500, qcb... LWB. . 4x4. . automatic HO CTD... Westin side steps... . under rail Duraliner. . rail cap covers. . etc. .

:D

We just got back from a short "shakedown" from the Texas Gulf Coast to Northern Minnesota - ~3500 miles - with our 14+K fifth-wheel. [The CAT scale showed us at 22,750. ]

Although the transmission would, occasionally, downshift on steep hills, most of the time the RPMs held quite steady.

Oh, yeah - virtually all of the trip was on Cruise Control and in OD. :D

Ya gotta love these trucks! Oo.
