I will be towing a 7,000 pound trailer tommorrow mostly city driving. My settings now are SW9 TQ3 Timing2 RP2 POD99. Should i leave it at that or should i go down to a lower SW like 5, and also lower my adjustments? Thanks

You can leave it there if you are watching the gauges like a hawk... But I would think you will probably enjoy towing on SW3 with TQ1, TM2, RP1, WG Off a little more. With your clutch and other mods you could probably go to SW5 and be fine, but that is probably all your stock turbo would like.

I have towed with SW1 (TQ2, TM2, RP1) and SW3 (TQ2, TM3, RP1) with no issues. I have 80hp (120 ft-lbs) injectors, so theoretically I'm at 80hp + 60hp with Smarty on SW3.

My max boost is 26psi on SW1 and 30psi on SW3 with max EGT 1200F.

I wound up staying on Sw9 only because i didn't have time to change it, but i did lower all of my adjustments such as Tq1, RP1, and it was only city towing for approximately 20 miles each way with out any hills to climb. Everything stayed within limits so i wasn't paying too much attention to the gauges. I don't think it a good idea to do that on a long trip with a heavy load though. THANKS EVERONE

You have to reprogram the truck to get the TQ, RP, TM, etc to change. Nothing changes on the truck unless you reload the software.

But glad it worked well for you.

Sometimes i feel very ignorant like right now:). When i change my tourque, timing, RP, in the Adjustments section i have to reload that sw program for the adjustments to take effect? Because when i change my adjustments and then go back to them a day later they are still there. I'm so confused now. Help me please>

Everyone previous is correct. You have to download or reload a catcher SW for your new parameter settings to take effect. All you are doing is reading what you changed the options to, however, the previous catcher program is still loaded.

Don't feel bad, I've done the same thing when the Smarty was new to me...

Correct, I too though the same thing. When it says "saving options" (or whatever it exactly says) its saving them in the Smarties memory so that next time you load the SW# it will use those saved values.

You cannot plug a Smarty in and tell what Revo settings are on the truck.

The only challenge that I have ever had with towing with my smarty being used, is that I can get a gray film (soot) all over the door side of my 5th wheel after several hours of towing. The truck always seems just fine, its the washing of the 5th wheel (again) that I try to avoid. When I tow with the stock settings, I don't get any soot at all after over 8 hrs of towing.

Try a different timing setting.
