3500's and cab over campers?

What do you haul in your TOYHAULERS???

I know this horse has been beat to death and I don't want to start any fussing. But I need your opinion. Currently I run an EZ on a 99' 3500. Planning to upgrade injectors to 2's or 3's. I know transmission work is in the not to distant future. I'm at 262,000 miles so I figure a simple parts install is out of the question. Here is my problem. I will be towing cattle, hay and other farm items. No drag racing no sled pulling. Mostly highway miles with medium to heavy towing several times a year. I need the best bang for the buck.

I am looking for reliability and efficency! I don't want a brand war I need solid honest opinions from those that have owned different set ups. Thanks in advance.

My wifes 01 2500 has a full DTT 89% TC with a "shimmed farm body". It is between a "farm body" and a "light shift" body as far as the shift firmness. We pull a 4 horse LQ horse trailer and the transmission works great. If all I where going to do is tow I think I would go with a straight farm body. It is a little harsh and will jerk the trailer a little on the 1-2 shift but for what we do with the truck it is perfect.

What they say, DTT! 1. 866. 504. 4002

I pull a #8500 5vr & performs great! 70k + trouble free miles commuting in Seattle traffic & pulling the 5vr on weekends...

My local shop did my DTT upgrade for me. I gave my shop the option of a crate transmission from DTT or building it themselves. I gave them the time they wanted to take their time and I know they enjoyed the challenge and learned alot too. We gave DTT the profile of what I was going to do with the truck and the mods I had. They set the specs and build the VB to your profile as I understand it. I am not doing any more performance upgrades or using an exhaust brake so I opted out of the billet shafts DTT strongly recommended but did get the hemi drum. I needed to save a few coins for upgrading my 95's OE transmission which has 226K on it. Mine is what I think they describe as a "livestock" series with 89% TC. I love the way it pulls and shifts. I thought the 48re TC was good until I got this TC. I would describe shifts as very firm. Much like the shift of my old 440 auto truck years ago. The lockup shift is smooth and quick but very firm. None of the old delay and then slide into lock up.

I have been studying up on transmission upgrades for years and truly feel Bill's explanation of transmission pressure adjustment allowed me to go as long as I have with these trannies and my #6 plates. My wife says I grin like a mule eating briars towing with my new DTT!
