Towing Wiring Harness

Hi, I just ordered a 2004. 5 diesel 3500 without a tow package because I want to install a Superhitch reciever. Will my truck come with a wiring harness stubbed out at the location of the rear bumper? JBrockn

No, but you can order the accessory kit from Dodge for the harness. I think it actually connects into the factory wiring near the front of the truck.

Actually it connects to the flat four conductor plug that is standard on all Dodge Rams. This is for the lights. You have to run the brake wire to the front as well as the charge wire. At least that is the way my BIL had his done with the Mopar kit.

This is from working on 2nd gens, so it may not be correct for the 3rd gens...



The harness has 2 long leads that plug into existing connectors for the charge & brake wires. If my memory serves me correctly, it was located behind the LF wheel. Take it with a grain of salt since it's been about 4 yrs since I did it...
