My 2001 Cummins/auto feels like it has no power when towing my 3600lb boat. . While drive unloaded it runs fine. . plenty of power. .

I don't have any guages yet. . what hoses should I check?

check the clamps on the intercooler hoses .

how many miles on the truck , mine seemed like a slug when i first hooked my snowmobile trailer to it , but that was 300 hp ago ... weeeeeeeeeee

Turbo,

Sounds to me like you have a boost leak for pulling a 3600 pound trailer is nothing. Open the hood, crawl underneath and look at every hose connection for a wrinkle or loose clamp. Guages will keep you informed in the future. Dave

I'd check the hose clamps first, it's easy and takes only a couple of minutes. Gauges are a must, they let you know how your engine is performing (pyro, boost, fuel pressure).

turbo,
My 24 Valve Y2K ETC stock from the factory was missing a gasket under the heater grid in the intake manifold. Cummins West said there should have been one there and was a definite boost leak! #ad

Fact:The First Fords' had 'DODGE' Engines! The new PSD's need them!

turbo lcc, when you say it has no power when towing 3600 lbs, what do you mean? Does it feel like the motor revs up and doesn't seem to go as before when unloaded?
Could it be the infamous inefficient TC?
Do you have gauges? Boost gauge would tell if the motor was building boost. Should see 20psi.
