Although it appears Fred didn't seem to have any problems, I can tell you that going from stock tires to the 315s will "definitely" give you a feeling of "lost" power ... simple math! I went from stock to 285s and noticed a 4 - 6 mph drop hauling my camper up the same grades I could usually hold at 70 mph in 6th gear. I'll add however that would actually be 2 - 4 since my speedo is off by 2 mph now.
BFG has a link on their website that you can enter the tire sizes on (after providing a little other info) that will tell you "effectively" what the "new" ratio is with the larger tires. Just for an example, I too have 3:73 gears and with the 285s I'm effectively at 3:61 - 3:63 as I recall! :--)
Tow my 10k trailer alot, no worries. It did slow me on the steep hills though However my new Juice/Attitude should fix that. 1600 rpms at 60mph holds it steady with no problem.
Take it the dealer and have them reflash the right RevPerMile for that tire. Seem to recall it being 601 or something like that. Speedo was dead-on after that. Need to go back for the 37's now.
I tow occasionally with my truck and its usually heavy when I do. I have 315's with 3. 55 gears and a 5spd and it handled great. However with one gooseneck trailer I use I have to watch my clearance between my bed rails and the neck because my truck is so tall.
