We just got back from a 9600 mile trip through the beautiful US. Smarty Jr. was set on #2 and we averaged 13. 8 hand calculated pulling our 30' Wildcat bunkhouse. Most we paid for fuel was $4. 68 in South Dakota and low was $3. 88 in Newnan, GA. Blew one tire (tread separation) and broke a spring shakle that stressed another tire (tread separation) before I could get to where It could be welded.

We visited:

Black Hills, Badlands, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, Craters of the Moon,

Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyons, Mesa Verde, White Sands, Carlsbad, Tuskeege Airmen, and much more.

We live in a beautful country and I thank God and the men & women that serve to keep it free!

Keep grinnin,

Walt

Thanks for the post. Sounds like you had a great trip. This really is a beautiful country with a lot of very nice people.

I'm getting ready to leave on vacation from Phoenix to N. CA. , Seattle, etc. Will be towing my 25-S Nash trailer. Have the Smarty Jr. set on towing & will be thrilled if I get the same mileage as you did.

One thing that really helped the milage was keeping my speed to 60mph most of the time. The Carlisle ST trailer tires are only rated for 65mph and I've not had good experience with them. As soon a my financial adviser (wife) gives me the OK, I'm going to change to 16" wheels and LT tires.

Travel safe and enjoy!
