This is the level 1 pressure box. I went to the Smokies last weekend. It is the fifth time I've made this trip, so I have a pretty good baseline. I was towing at 20,000# GCW. Other truck modifications include Scotty III, TAG, 4" exhaust, and gauges.

Before the van Aaken the truck towed pretty well, but there were a few grades that I could not maintain headway on. The worst is about 4% for one and a half miles. EGTs never exceded 1050 deg.

With the vA on 100% I managed to pull the grades with no decrease in speed and power to spare. Max EGT was 1250 deg and I saw a 1 mpg fuel economy improvement over the best of my last 4 trips.

The hot rodders probably wouldn't go bonkers over this box, but it is a great little towing box. It adds enough power to move the load while not stressing the clutch or fuel system. Driving around day to day unladen you would never know that it is there, that is unless you really stand on it.

All in all this is exactly what I have been looking for and I am very satisfied so far.

Mileage

Fireman,

Have you checked the mileage empty with the box? I'm curious it the increaded power in the "average driving" rpm range helps out.

I have only run a half tank unladen, but I filled it and figgured the mileage. It was about what the average "before" mileage was. I have to admit that I did make a few full throttle runs just to see where the power came in at, so the mileage isn't conclusive. It'll take a while, maybe 4 tanks before I would be confident in any mileage claim. I'll keep you posted as it developes.

I found the same towing with mine. On the freeway 13,000GVW I will do just under 65mph nice and easy with . 8 mpg increase.

I like to keep the revs down and tow in OD. With the box turned off dropping below 60 in OD I can start to loose headway and will need turn the OD off due to my 3. 73's and taller tire but with the box on it will pull real strong at 55 in OD.

On hills I now pass people towing and thats kinda cool:cool:

Unloaded I see the same . 8 mpg increase.

VA CP3 - LEVEL II MILEAGE

Well, another tank went through the new truck and it was the first complete tank with the new stage II VA box.

First off my basis for the runs,

5 trips to work and home. The highway is 5 miles from my house, and then it's 48 miles on a 70 mph highway, and 1/2 mile to work off the highway.

I have went through 6 tanks prior to this one and every tank except the first was within 0. 2 mpg of each other.

I keep the truck at 77mph the whole way in (provided there is not a dumb-a** in front of me).

The new box gave me just a bit over 1 mpg gain. I will admit there were a few pumps on the trottle to play, and a little hot rodding.

Also, this was with the box on 50% the entire time.
