This is the level 1 pressure box. I went to the Smokies last weekend. It is the fifth time I've made this trip, so I have a pretty good baseline. I was towing at 20,000# GCW. Other truck modifications include Scotty III, TAG, 4" exhaust, and gauges.
Before the van Aaken the truck towed pretty well, but there were a few grades that I could not maintain headway on. The worst is about 4% for one and a half miles. EGTs never exceded 1050 deg.
With the vA on 100% I managed to pull the grades with no decrease in speed and power to spare. Max EGT was 1250 deg and I saw a 1 mpg fuel economy improvement over the best of my last 4 trips.
The hot rodders probably wouldn't go bonkers over this box, but it is a great little towing box. It adds enough power to move the load while not stressing the clutch or fuel system. Driving around day to day unladen you would never know that it is there, that is unless you really stand on it.
All in all this is exactly what I have been looking for and I am very satisfied so far.
