Considering a TIG purchase - syncrowave 200?

I need to tow a wrecked dodge 2500 roughly 800 miles. What's the best way to get it here? Is there any national rental chains that rent out car hauler or flat bed trailers that would be able to hold a diesel truck? :) I checked with all my buddies and nobody has one that will fit a truck only small cars. :--)

Most places don't have equipment heavy enough for our 8K lb trucks. I might be able to help in a couple of weeks

If it's a regular cab long bed with no more than 131" wheelbase it will fit on a u-haul trailer. Keep your speed down to 50-55mph and it will make the trip. Just don't tell em you want to haul a truck. Tell em it's a big car:-laf.

Go to your local rental place that rents small trackhoes, backhoes and other construction equipment. My local United Rentals has several trailers that could haul a full size truck, they will also let you take all the chains and rachets to haul the truck up onto the trailer and tie it down, you want for free. I rented a 20' deckover with dovetail and folding ramps for about $60 for picking up a Chevy K5 Blazer in eastern Oregon this summer, worked very well.

A U-haul trailer is never going to be strong enough for a full size truck. For your safety and the others on the road get the right equipment.

Ill check out some places this weekend that rent heavy equipment... thanks for the idea that one completly slipped my mind.

I am having a heck of a time finding a (preferably) flatbed hauler with a winch on the front to haul a dead Neon 12 stinking miles.

DZink, if you have a rental outfit close by, see if they have any car dollies. They usually have winches on them to pull the front wheels of the car up onto the platform. I wouldn't want to haul one of our trucks on a dolly, but your Neon shouldn't be any problem.

A friend of mine works for a local rental shop and he says that the car dollies are one of their most popular items!

I've checked at U Haul and United Rentals, they've both got them, ($50/day) but I am waiting out my buddy who works for a repo man, he said he is gonna try to get over to the house between jobs and pick it up for me (free). I wanna get the car fixed asap, but I dont want to wait too long for him, but also, you know what they say, beggars can't be choosy... .

DZink! How bout a strap and a buddy or female friend to pull you!?? I've pulled stranded buddies home from an hour away several times with my mighty Cummins, paraded them thru town to show off their being broke down and didn't have to rent a thing. Plus I usually recieved free beer to boot!

Doesn't get much better than that. Also burns up an I owe you easily.
