Hi, just wondering if anybody has run the Toyo M55 285-75-16 on stock rims. I have a 99 2500 qcab stock, running 255-85-16, I would like to try the Toyo's because they are e rated. Thanks for the help. RTB

Speedo Adjust

What is the largest size tire you can put on a stock rim and still have the speed/odometer read correctly. I believe you can have Dodge provide a correction to the axle speed pickup on the rear axle. I have a 2001 with 275 75/16. .

I looked into the m55's but I was talked out of them the guy told me they would make my ride worse than it was I went with the toyo open country at's 285/75/16

After three, yes three, sets of Open County AT 285's I'm 12K on M-55's. They're mounted on Weld Outbacks. No ride difference I can note, but they do sing which I would expect since the tread is much more aggressive.

AT's were quiet, good in rain, but they don't wear beyond 35K for me with 5K rotations and weekly pressure checks. I like the M-55's so far.

I run the M-55 on stock rims. Cept I have them recapped. Is much cheaper, the tread lasts longer and I can get the tread pattern I desire. (which is the same as a semi) The only thing I notice is that the side wall sway is alittle more than I would like but for 80 bucks a tire that can be redone 3 times is worth the sway. And by the way, the TOYO is the only light duty tire that tire places will recap due to their superior side wall construction. Hope this helps.

Generally, you need a 8" wide rim minimum to run 285 75/16. Some will mount them on the narrower rim, but they wear out the centers and some shops won't do it.

I burned through a set of Toyo Open Country ATs in about 22K miles (285 75/16). They are nice, but they don't hold up on our trucks. The tire stores are beginning to acknowledge that.

I put on M55s on Labor Day (same size). They are siped for winter traction. So far, no regrets. Yeah, they make a bit more noise on the freeway, but hey, it's a big, freakin' diesel pickup! Growl! ;)
