Anyone have an online or Las Vegas, NV. source for 285/75/16 tires at a good price? Cheapest I have found is $233. 00 each with shipping from 1010 tires.com. Thank you in advance. Tony.

I have always liked M55's - but the last set I had

didn't wear for beans... I had them replaced at 25,000 and they were 60%

gone... ...

Wear very good

Not sure if you just had bad luck or a bad set hammersly but I have run 5 sets of rubber on my truck. Two sets of M55s. The first three sets were the factory Goodyear AT, then Dunlop Rover AT. I rotate and balance religiously but I was towning heavy and really at rubber off the rears. I could only get 30 - 35K out of the Goodyears and Dunlops. After putting on two sets of rubber in less then a year I switched to M55s. Got 55K out of the first set of M55 and 62K out of the second. I switch to something less expensive as I rarely pull now (just highway empty driving) and got 40K out of a set of Yokohamas. All tires replaced with they went below 4/23 on all tires. I went back to M55s with the set I am currently running.

I would put M55s up against anything including Goodyear Unisteels. They cost alittle more but have returned almost double the miles in my applicaiton.

What load range and tread does this tire have( the M-55), I have a 02 4x2 2500, and I am still with the original Michelin LTX M/S 265/75-16, 46000mi. on those with a lot of heavy hauling. So it is nice to know of a good replacements . I still have about 15000mi. left in my tires now. Thanks everybody.

Snow and Ice....

The M55 is a snow tire and a very good one at that. I sipe the tires once 30% or more of the tread is gone. I ran a pair one winter with less then 6/32 and Siped (resipe if tire wear goes below the old sipe cuts) and had no problems.

I started with new rubber this winter (255/85R) and on hard compacted snow I have started out on a pretty good grade going uphill. I have LSD rear end and it just diggs in a chugs up the hill in TWO WHEEL DRIVE. I have not found a need to use 4wd unless I am plowing deep snow... . none this winter yet.

When I was towing alot, I would pull double stock trailers (24' in front and a 20 or 22' hooked behind) through fresh snow up to 6" deep in 2WD once the load was moving. I always tried to tow in 2WD because if I slip going forward It will be worse trying to slow down. Most times it rolled along at 60 - 65.

IMHO, these are right up there as one of the best winter tires made. Siping just makes them even better.
