I've run several sets of Wrangler MT/R on half ton trucks and absolutely loved them. Great traction in dry, wet, snowy, and off-road conditions. I want a 315/70/17 or 35/12. 5/17 MT/R, but they don't make either size. Toyo, however, makes their M/T in the later of the two sizes. I don't know anything about Toyo and am looking for input.

How do these tires compare in every aspect? Which do you prefer? Any suggestions for another tire similar to the Wrangler MT/R other than the Toyo?

Thanks!!!

Go for the Toyo's I am now running the MTR's in 305 and 37 and love them but they are loud and the Toyo's are MUCH quieter... . also traction is good and durability too, but the $$$$$ is more... .

you missed the boat on this discussion. do a search on "toyo vs nitto" or somthing similar. it's only a couple weeks old and its a pretty big thread

The Goodyears in 37x12. 5x17 are E rated but too soft. I'm at around 15K miles and they are past the wear bars. The Toyos are my next set, as I want to stay with 37 E rated tires. Kent swears by them, and I'll find out how long they last with my setup.

I've heard the Goodyears are way too soft. I know people that love them on half tons, but I haven't heard a lot of good results on our trucks. I have heard really good things about the Toyos.

You are getting bad information and yes the tread is soft but it is specific to the silica compound. I have had several sets on Chevy oil burners and all were outstanding--a little loud but with that tread design that is to be expected. If ya wanna play with the big gripper tires then a little noise is the price.

Go for the Toyos. Mine balanced perfectly, and as long as you keep rotating the tires every 5k miles (my oil change interval) they stay quiet. I had the Goodyears on a '94 lifted Chevy 1/2 ton and liked them, but these tires are much better.
