Plugged muffler??

I wanted to put 265/75/16 Toyo Open Country MT or the M55s on my wife's 3/4 ton suburban and was quoted $300 ea mounted & balanced. That's pretty high I thought for 265s. Does that sound right? What are some of you guys paying?

Seems high for 16's. I paid ~$1100 for M-55 275/70/18 mounted and balanced on my 01 a few months ago. M-55's are great tires, though.

Hmmmm, maybe I won't get Toyo's:{ Still going to look and price them out

You are getting a lot more tire there, guess I will have to brace myself, altho that is only about 50/tire more than I paid for my last set of 285/75-16's mounted out the door.

I paid $900 for my M-55 toyo's 265/70/16 that is mouted and balanced out the door price I thought that was a good price.

Wow $300 Thats crazy high!

$155 per tire mounted and balanced is what I paid, in Colorado/early 2004.
That's four years ago. Diesel was what,$1. 55? I've got a local place here that has quoted me $1360 for 35-12. 50-17 Toyo Mt's w/rotation and flat repair.

Does the $300 include the KY for when they bend you over??

I was quoted about 1100 for 285/75/17's and only 950ish for 285/70/17... .

Could be, the MI economy really sucks. In the 3 years I've been here I've worked for two companies that have gone belly up.

They were asking $211, which is an ok price, and said they would beat or match anyone's prices. Mentioned the online prices of about $196 and that the Hummer dealer right down the block is selling new H2 take-offs for $200 each. They came back with $199, which I could not pass up.

If your interested in saving some cash, go a tire company, generally one that does larger semi and large equipment tires. Ask them if they have TOYO Hyper Radials. Buy the tires and take them to a tire place that does recaps on semi tires. They will retread the tires. I got five of them 2 years ago for 240. 00. You have your choice of tread pattern also. I am getting about 65 to 75k on each tire and they are great in snow. Not bad for an 85 dollar tire.

Cost difference.

The "75's" are 14# heavier than the "70's" and 1" taller. That explains part of the cost difference. The "75"s look noticibly larger. My buddy's got them.

No argument there (4 years ago), but the price in comparison to other tires is off the chart for the same size tire (265s). Personally, I think a fair price would be around $200, $225 tops. I just wouldn't be able to justify any tire that was $100 more than a similar tire, but thats just me.

Might also consider a similar Goodyear tire the Workhorse Radial. If you have a Sam club nearby you can have them for around $165 plus mounting.
