Toyota starter

Friend has a 2000 4Runner. The starter makes 1 click when he turns the key. Battery is good. Do these have a solenoid that might be bad? Or is starter junk?

If the battery is good, then I question not having a good ground.

It should have a Nippon denso stater

You can replace the contacts just like our ctd's

If I recall my '9 Taco correctly, there is a starter relay somewhere.
