Tpms?

I am considering getting an aftermarket tire pressure monitor primarily for a tandem axel trailer.



Seems like I might as well use it for the truck too, but the ones i've seen only do 7 tires. 8 would be a the min needed to monitor truck and trailer sans spares.



Price would be a major consideration.



Got any recommendations?

apparently you have had it with tire failure, I went from 6 e rated tires on 3 axles to g rated tires on 3 axles . nock on wood it's been 2 years since I've had a failure . you must change the rims also e rims won't cut it.

Is 34 wheel positions enough?

I've been using a Pressure Pro tire monitoring system on my truck and travel trailer combo and it works great. Not necessarily cheap to buy the monitor and transmitters up front, but it brings peace of mind and probably costs less than having a tire blow, not know about it, and do a lot of damage.

We use the nVision TPMS system from Hopkins. A very good product with a good price. We have them on our Dually and our triple axle 5th wheel. Diana

I happened to see this old post and felt an update was in order. The nVision system did work for us for about 6 months. After that I could just not get the system to work. Reliability is uppermost for us so we returned this system and took a year to research other tire pressure monitoring systems out there. About 14 months ago, we decided to try the system by TST. What a difference. It has "saved" us twice already. The 2nd time, the alarm went off showing tremendous heat. We pulled over and the tire was fine but we could feel the heat as we walked toward the tire. Dutch pulled the wheel and found a brake caliper had stuck causing the heat. Fortunately he did have a spare caliper. While we did lose the caliper, I feel the system saved damage to the rotor, tire loss and possibly damage to our 5th wheel. The added benefits of the monitor showing PSI and temperature sure doesn't hurt either. Diana
