I've got a situation that the TPS on my truck isn't putting out the required voltage and may be the solution to a nother problem on my truck. I"m just wondering if anybody has replaced the bushings on the shaft that goes into the tps?

If anybody has any insight, that woudl be GREAT!!!!

Thanks,

Corey

Corey, if you can't get the voltage up high enough remove the metal bushings that the hold down bolts go though and use a round file to oblong the holes for more adjustment. Never heard of the shaft fix like you speak of.

I had to replace the shaft/bushing assembly only once. It was on a '94 with about 200K on it. Before replacing the shaft, the TPS would have to be turned nearly 60° past where the mounting are. Simply removing the metal bushings in the TPS and making the holes bigger would not fix it. Under closer inspection, I found the end of the shaft to be severely worn, and it would actually slip off the rotating part of the TPS. So I replaced the shaft and bushings, and it was fixed. :D

The metal parts have been removed and the holes oblonged. One major problems is just wiggling the shaft the voltage will fluxuate about . 05 volts or so. I did find out later that the TPS controls the 3-4 shift on the transmission, so I don't know if it will do exactly what I'm hoping it will.

I'm looking for part numbers and how indepth the R&R is going to be. I would hate to try and re-tension the spring or something if I had to remove everything to replace the shaft. Just lookin for some insight from somebody that has done it.

Thanks,

Corey
