TPS Light On

The TPS light came on last night. It didn't clear, so I stopped the truck and shut it down. On re-start I had the same problem. Hmmmm... ... ...



Well, I stopped a while later for a while and on re-start to light cleared. I wonder if it's anything I should worry about?

DO you drive with 2 feet? If so, that may be the culprit.

if you play around with the manual and put it in second, hold the brake and mash the throttle to do a burnout, it will trip that light every time. i know.

Throttle Position Sensor, the trucks have a electronic throttle, not a cable. The light is the lightning bolt on the gauge cluster.

Thanks I always wondered what that light was for it does look like a throttle body butterfly. I knew they were drive by wire. I wonder if it's packed with soot from the EGR system.

The lightning bolt came on once on my lemonade stand and it was a loose battery cable. It has appeared a couple of other times at random. have no idea why.

The one on my wife's truck came on this morning when I started it and went to turn on the high idle. I started it, turned on the cruise and bumped the set button but nothing happened so I bumped it again and the light came on then the truck idled up but kinda rough. Turned the truck off and repeated the process, smooth as silk but the light was still on. The light cleared later in the day after starting it a couple times

Exactly the same set of conditions and outcome for me. Must be that sometimes when you set high idle it confuses the TPS. All is good now as the light went out later and has not come back on.
