HI GUYS.

HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN WITH THE OD SHIFTING OUT AND RPMS GOING UP. WHEN I FIRST HAD THIS PROBLEM I HAD THE DEALER CHANGE THE TPS UNDER WARRANTY, END OF PROBLEM. I NOW HAVE 140,000 MILES AND AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. I HAVE READ MANY THREDS ON THIS SITE ABOUT HOSING DOWN THE TPS WITH LPS OR ELECTICAL CONTACT CLEANER. MY PROBLEM IS I DONT KNOW WHERE THIS PART IS OR WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. CAN SOMEONE E-MAIL ME WITH THE PICTURE OF IT AND WHERE IT IS LOCATED. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

DAVE GARDNER.

PS. FEEL FREE TO JUMP IN HERE ILLFLEM. YOU THE MAN. SORRY ABOUT ALL THE CAPS, HONEST I"M NOT YELLING JUST CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE IT STOP.

David,

Look at the left side of your keyboard. There is a key labeled "Caps Lock". Press it to turn the all caps on or off. On the right side of your key board there are some indicator lights. One of them is "Caps Lock". It should be off for normal typing. If it's on hit the caps lock key to turn it off.

The OD drop out is an extra added no cost feature for these trucks. Just for intertainment. It serves to break up a dull ride. Seriously, I don't think it has any thing to do with the TPS. It's just a bug in the CPM program. Mine does that rarely and I have 203K miles on it. Sometimes it takes a spell of doing that about once a month. Sometines it will go a year without happening. Just another aggravating quirk of these beasts.

Thanks Joe.

Got the caps thing figured out now. Will have to learn to live with the OD disengage thing. Hope it dose"nt happen to often cause when it does I always think "holey Cow what did I blow now"

Thanks Dave G.

Hi, Dave!

Glad you are back. Haven't seen you post in a long time. Hope your dad is feeling better.

Seems to me I downloaded some info on the very same problem you listed. I will try to find my hard copy for you.

there are many threads on this. .

this seems to be a common problem... i experienced it at 50k mi. some say to spray the tps liberally with contact cleaner. i did this many times and it did not help... ... .

I changed out the solenoid / temp sensor/ and 2 tps'... ..... the only way to fix mine was to TAKE THE WIRES GOING TO THE TPS OUT OF THE HARNESS!! PULL THEM OUT ABOUT 2 FEET BACK FROM THE TPS AND PUT THEM IN THEIR OWN WIRE LOOM..... PROBLEM SOLVED!! (electrical NOISE!!)

here's your picture of the TPS.....

Thanks alot Shrenden

Your picture of the TPS is exactly whatr I was looking for. I down loaded it and made a copy on my printer and will save it in my maintenance files. Is this a great site or what!

Your friend Dave Gardner. :)

David G, you may wish to give your TPS an attitude adjustment using the method Roger L. McFillen used. See TDR issue #37, page 39.
