Hello I just returned from working in Hong Kong for 3 months and my batteries were DEAD FLAT. I jumped the truck to get it started and drove to TX. from OKLA. and I am getting some eractic throttle response on and off cruise. It seems to vary about 100-200 RPM. I have a Bully Dog Torque Dog box with it off it doesnt seem too bad. Could somebody direct me to the TPS "programming" Info. ?

MANY THANKS

Richard

Hey,

Hopefully the APPS reset will solve your issue, but if not I would defiantly have the batteries checked. I know that you can actually “kill” a battery by letting it completely discharge. It’s happened to me (as I use to be notorious for leaving lights on). I’ve been told that unlike Deep Cycle Batteries, vehicle batteries are not designed to be completely discharged.

Just a thought.

Could you please update and let us know what you found out. Weather it was the APPS or the batteries, ECM or if you are still having problems. Thanks.

I have an perfectly good APPS if you need one. My truck has a slight hesitation and after new APPS, IAT, MAPS, cam position sensor, and injectors it is still hesitating. Turned out to be VP44 slow death. Must have damaged it when I ran out of fuel a while back- fuel gauge said I had just below half.

Have my 00 at the dealership right now for diagnosis. I have been told by a couple of sources that the APPS will probably fix my problem so I decided to see what the dealership had to say. I might be in the market for one as soon as this afternoon, I will get back to you ASAP.

Problem: When driving at low speeds (1st gear) at around 1400 RPM the RPM's begin to fluctuate pretty bad. Once I increase my speed a little to get out of 1st, no more problems. FYI, just had a transmission rebuild last week :( but this was happening before the transmission went out.

Turn your ignition key on then off then on then off then on and read the codes as they appear in the odometer window. Write them down and look them up on this board or email them to me and I will look them up in my factory service manual for you.

After spending $355 for a new APPS when my old one was fine, I won't replace ANYTHING else on my truck unless their is an error code stored that describes a problem with a sensor or device. I have spent $2305 trying to take the 1600-2000 rpm hesitation/stumble out of my engine and hasn't helped at all. Tomorrow it gets a new VP44 which will bring the total to approx. $4700. I wish I had just done the VP44 to start with... .

If I remember right the '00 will not spit the codes out like the '01's and later.

Hello All and THANKS to all that have responded.

I did the Batt. unhook with key on for a full drain and hooked them back up, (key off) then did the key on depress pedal and back up "easy".

It seems to have fixed it as with the box on I havent had the problem since!

Again, Many Thanks for ALL the good Info. !!!!

Glad you got your lil' ole' truck fixed! After the new VP44, mine is running like a swiss watch! (Don't let em run out of fuel... . ) Have a safe holiday season and if you end up needing an APPS, drop me a line, I've got a spare.
