I posted last week about voltage and at the same time said that I am getting codes. I think the voltage and battery problems that I had are a red herring. Everything seems Ok there.

I do not drive a lot lately and had occasion to be out in the truck today. I again got codes. I will write them down next time and Iknow I can ask form more help when I have them to give. The code did say TPs circuit over voltage. I was on the NJ turnpike and really could not hang long. I reset them and continued on my trip.

My question is this. In my '99 it was possible to recalibrate the TPS and I think it could be cleaned. Is this also possible in my '04? I seem to recall the procedure was to turn the key on and without starting slowly depress and release the accelerator pedal. Is this the case with the '04 too?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You

My understanding is the calibration is hard coded and applied on every startup with variations of the acutal values taken into account. Rather than try to read and capture the minute differences, there is a constant value every APPS should hit with a percentage variation that it can vary. When it goes outside the programmed variances you get codes.

That said try it and see what happens. Its free and easy. ;)

FYI, any problems with the APPS or TPS I have ever had where never permanently solved by a reset. Lets just say I am not optimistic a reset actually ACCOMPLISHES anything permanent. :)

I feel the same way. I have reset it several tiimes already while trying other things.

One can hope, I am sure that TPS units are not cheap. I have not really had to look into parts availability siince the bankrupcy.

There is a member or who goes by Timbo I think is registered here that has a much cheaper solution than the OE one.

Dealer is waaayyyyy expensive.
