This setup rocks. Found this through another TDR member and was warned by another TDR member it was tricky to install. So I went by a random Dodge Dealership, explained what I was doing and asked if they had any trac-bars I could have to play with, they had a stack of them. Took three home to work with before I was ready to do mine for my truck.

Hints:

1. When grinding the cap off, remove the zerk first and grind with the grinder flat to the cap. Keep a water hose running to cool the end off otherwise the heat from grinding will melt the poly "spring" inside. Grind just until you see the circular ring where the body meets the pressed in plug. Then put the nut on the ball stud to protect the threads and knock it out with a hammer.

2. Use the edge of the grinding wheel to reduce ball end to accept the new cap (to be welded on later) You only need to grind down 1/8" or so. Keep checking to see if the cap fits before you grind too much.

3. Make sure you have a good rubber boot to assemble it with, the pickle fork used to remove the ball stud will tear these up. I think Prothane ( prothane.com or http://www.4x44u.com/pub/k2/am4x44u/truck_stop/parts/prothane.htm ) sells new ones.

4. Use the poly "spring" instead of the 3/4" lock washer.

5. Pre-grease it before assembly.

Hope this helps someone, sure is good to have a tight front end again.

Anyone have a front diff cover? My Lukes link almost beat a hole in mine

You do, the new cap gets welded on but it has internal threads. The internal threaded plug is big enough to allow you to service it or remove the ball stud. I took it to a local welder, it took him 10 minutes to weld.

Tejas Deezul,

Do you or your wife have leveling springs on the trucks?

Reason I ask is I am still waiting for an adjustable (length) T-Bar so I can re-center the axle. It's about 1/2" to the left off center.

Darrin of DSS I guess has one in the works.

Tejas Deezul,

Hey, those guys at Lindstat make a good product, don't they? I install mine last week and love it. My truck drives nice and straight, again. I'd recommend their product to anyone.

All the springs are OEM. The DTT bar is adjustable and so is the bar made by Skyjacker (I think)

Clearance???

Tejas, Are you saying the Lukes Link hits the diff cover? I have one sitting here ready to put on, and now I`m hesitating a bit! I never heard about this before. Please advise! Don. :--)

Yep, sure am. The guy at Lukes Link said to take a grinder to the Lukes link, but it still hit. I'm not the only one either to have it hit the diff cover.

My Luke's Link hit fairly hard at first, I found if I jacked the truck up under the frame i could fit a 7" grinder in to trim it without removing it. After I ground it a bit I painted the cover and link to look for marks after a drive, it took three tries to get it to clear but I was being Conservative with the grinder.

Luke's Link installs without welding but definitely needs modification on some trucks
