I am having trouble getting the part # for the track bar for my 00 4x4. I tried the NAPA website with no luck and then called the NAPA help line and they could not find it. He told me I might need to go to an independant NAPA store and get it. If some one has the part number and price I should pay it would be greatly apreciated.

I rebuilt my track bar about 120k ago and it was about as easy as could get using the Linstad kit. It was much cheaper and has required almost no adjustment. Plus! When you take it apart you can marvel over what a POS the OEM unit is!

I have, according to the Dodge dealer, no play in my tie rod ends or Ball Joints. I can't imagine my tie rod ends would be good if the sloppy track bar was left on a truck.

I have one off my truck with less than 3000 miles on it. E- mail me.

Which years use the same track bar. I wonder if they have made any changes since the 97 model year or have they continued to use the same "high quality componet" up through the present.

I believe that I have found my own answer. I called the dealer and asked if the 97 and 00 track bars took the same number and they did. When I called NAPA back with the part # they had no problem finding the right part. The problem then is the price. One NAPA wanted $229. 00 and the other $219. 00. I asked both if that was the best they could do and sited some of the prices others had paid at NAPA and the both said that they were company owned stores with very little pricing power. I then called Carquest and they had one available next day for $169. 00 with a three year unlimited milage warranty. I should have 300k and the fourth track bar installed and a new 04 ordered by the time the warranty runs out. I called two NAPA stores, two Carquest stores, two Autozone stores and looked on the NAPA website as well as the Parts.com website and could not find one place that could get a track bar for my truck. When I was able to get a part # from other TDR members all of them had the part and it is called a track bar in their systems. I do not know why all of these companies and web sites use such inferior search engines. The part numbers I used were Napa # 272-4229 and Carquest # DS1413. The Carquest # appears to be the MOOG #. I will install the part this weekend and report back on the results. Any install tips would be appreciated.
