I think my track bar is going bad. Is there a way i can check it first without going to the dealer? I get a clunking noise when i turn the wheels in any direction. Thanks.

Watch the ball joint end where it is attached to the frame on the drivers side while someone turns the steering wheel back and forth. There should be no visible movement of the ball joint. If you see movement, it's bad. Easy to replace and you just pay for parts, not the dealer labor cost unless you are still under warranty of course.

Ok. I checked the track bar and there is virtually no movement when turning the wheeel back and forth. My next guess would be the intermediate steering shaft. Is there any way to test this to see if it is bad. I hate to make a trip to the dealer without knowing exactly what is wrong. Thanks.

It makes the clunking noise at slow speeds of about 30mph or less. It isn't really loud, just annoying and I can feel it through the steering wheel. I wouldn't think that it would be the U-joints already? This is all the info I know. Thanks.
