So I get the better half to move the sterring wheel back and forth while I crawl under the front end and check for loose ball joints and track bar movement. I saw the drivers side of the track bar which has a ball joint move about 1/16 inch, but not from side to side. Instead it moved sort of in and out - like if the nut was loose on it and allowing the ball joint to come out when the wheel was turned to the right, then like the ball joint was going into its socket when the wheel was turned back to the left. But the nut is tight and the stud was not moving at all. Is this acceptable movement or do I need to do some repair? The other side of the track bar that is attached to the pax side - if it moved it was not noticeable.

I also had one ball joint - I think it was the one connecting to the pitman arm that had the same movement described above. Again, is this acceptable?

Thanks for any input.

They sound bad to me. My track bar had what would be considered normal worn out movement when I replaced it. I put one in from Linstad (sp) Alignment. Now when there is slop I can tighten it up. It makes a difference in how the truck handles.
