2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Trackbar Diagnosis

I've read about the trackbar issues with these trucks and I'm wondering how I can tell if mine has gone out. Does the truck pull to one side or the other? Would it give the feeling of needing an alignment? Would the steering wheel be off (not pointing straight ahead when driving)?

It will wander. Crawl under with the engine running and have someone slowly turn the wheel. You can then watch the end on the driver's side. The bar will move in relation to the frame if the track bar is bad.

In reference to the other question... what "civil war" are you referring to? Webster's Dictionary defines it as a war between 2 groups for control over 1 central government. What is referred to commonly as the "civil war" is more accurately called the war between the states, the second American revolution, war for southern independence, war of northern aggressions, etc. And, yes, I am a proud member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and I believe that we were illegally invaded by an aggressor country and defeated and forced against our will to succumb to their rule and laws. If you decide to "fix" the track bar using Luke's Link or replace it, you will also find that it is easiest to realign while someone is slowly turning the wheel. I installed Luke's Link and have been very happy with it, even though I found that my problem was a deformed sector shaft in the steering box.



About the war. . I won't touch that subject with a ten foot pole. Except to say that I currently live in a State, which I believe illegally occupies too much control of our every day lives.

Hey Reb,check your ball joints and wheel bearings also by jacking it up and see if their is any up and down movement. I replaced my ball joints and w-bearings at 70k,but we get alot of snow and salt up here in western Md. I have a Lukes Link also and like it,but the best thing I did was install a Sky-Jacker dual steering stabilizer. The 285's made the truck want to wander on the freeway and the stabilizer fixed that. Rides like a dream now... Doug
