When are you replacing your trackbar? Read somewhere every 40-60,000 miles. Is this true? Cost? anything better than the original?

My first trackbar was replaced at about 32K miles and has been replaced a little under 20K from there to now. I have 18K on this trackbar and it is shot. Mine is a quadcab, dad has a regular cab and got 115K out of his original trackbar. I really don't know if there is a correlation there or not. I checked his at about 90K and it was still tight. It seems to vary by truck as to when it needs replaced. Have someone saw back and forth on the wheel while you look at the frame end of it. . 080" of freeplay is the tolerance Dodge gives for it to be bad, but it starts to drive bad on mine at about . 040".

I have not had an aftermarket trackbar yet, but I have been told that the DT is the best made. Dad put a Lukes Link in his and loves it. You can search for both and get more info. Hope this helps.

My stock tracbar only went 17k, the Napa bar afterwards went over 100k before being replaced for free with their lifetime warranty. 72k on the second Napa bar now and seems fine.

How do you know the thrack bar is bad while driving? what are the symtoms? I'd like to know what to look for. my warantee is up in 3k mi.

Mark the acid test is to have someone saw back and forth on the wheel whil you observe and measure the freeplay in the frame end balljoint.

Typical symptoms while driving are wander, following ruts, and constant course correction required. Hope this helps.

Easiest way to tell if you bar is worn is to crawl under the front and look at the drivers side end of the bar while someone else turns the steering wheel slightly back and forth. You should see no movement in the trackbar ball joint, it is very obvious when it is worn.

I have a pull to the right. . had the front end aligned. . no change. was hoping this might be the problem... I guess it does requre input all the time.

I have 155,000 + miles on the original track bar ... with no problems yet ... ... now that I posted this ... the dang thing is going to give me fits!!!! knock on keyboard!!
