Can anyone tell me if warped rotors or drums can cause a truck to vibrate when you are driving down the road not touching the brakes?

I don't feel the vibration through the steering wheel, but through the rest of the truck.

I can feel the pulsing symptom of warped brakes when I am slowing down, so I'm pretty sure that I have that problem to deal with, but I'm also trying to hunt down a vibration that I get at freeway speeds (65-75mph).

Thanks,

Mike

Driveshaft could be out of balance or slightly bent. Bad u-joints. Worn slip yoke. Loose u-bolts attaching the cross to the yoke. Bad carrier bearing. Bad or out of balance tires.

Thanks for the ideas, I had some time last night so I crawled under it to have a look around.

All the U-joints seem tight.

The slip yoke *might* have just a little slop in it. I need to pull the driveshaft to check that.

The tires are old, so I think my first course of action should be to get them balanced and see it that's all it will take.

Again, thanks for the ideas.

Hiya Mike

If you see a lot of weight on a tire, have them break the bead spin the tire 180 deg air up, reseat the bead and spin it again. You should require less wheel weight unless something is bent, this match mounting is the cat's meow I promise! Maybe it threw a weight too, I've had this happen. Should you have a bent wheel A-1 (off Kyhkendall (sp) west of 45 just north of S. Houston toll road can help you out). Better yet another guy downtown (south of downtown in a bad neighborhood) can straighten steel wheels too. He's in the yellow pages? Sorry I don't remember his name. I would take him the truck and let him remove the wheels and ck. for balance, bent wheels etc. The price is right!

U Joints fixed this prob on my truck. The center support is pricey and avail only thru Dodge that I've found (longer story). Try Precision (Fed Mogul @ O'Reilly) or Spicer joints (Napa or other independent). Its not a bad choice to do u-joints, then the center support later as necessary, especially if you are going to do it yourself. I like an air chisel for old joint removal after lubing up the cups real well. The vibration will just slip it right out. .

I sent you a pm with those part numbers sorry it took so long.
