I have been tracking the progress of my new 04. 5 on the Union Pacific RR site. WHAT A COOL SITE! I have had a great time checking the puter 2x a day to see when they update. Now if it would just get out of Texas!Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Post the URL for the website or PM me. My truck was in frame and paint yesterday, finishing trim today, EST ship date tomorrow (assuming no issues in Quality Control and Safety). So, I will be needing that info very soon.

Man I can't wait to start burning oil again. Been over a month now.

I see from your sig that you are in West Virginia. Unless I'm badly mistaken, your truck won't be seeing the Union Pacific RR so that link won't help you. From what I've seen, east coast trucks go by ship from Vera Cruz. Try using the Insight data base that I posted a link to recently.

You need your dealer's code (five position) and your VIN (last 8) or VON.

That's what I thought, too, and most do. However, I found out today, mine is not. After Insight kept pushing my Port date back each day, I called my dealer, who had... ta da... . a RAILCAR number, which I tracked on UP's site. It went to New Orleans, where UP's network ends. From there, it transferred to CSX. Their site will not let you track, but their 800 number will. As of last night, my truck's railcar was in Greensboro, SC, but they had no further information.

So, if you truck IS coming by rail to the East, it will come CSX. But, most DO come by boat. I don't know why mine is not.

Swexlin,

I think you mean Greensboro, NC, not SC. There is a Greenville, SC. Either way, it looks like you are close to delivery!

I agree, The unuion pacific does not ship to the east coast. I do not have the information on your shipping track. Good luck.

Insight keeps pushing my arrival to dealer date back too, but it says it was loaded on vessel 3/6/04. I assume vessel means ship, since it sat in Veracruz for a month?

I called the CSX line again this morning. It is Greenville, SC, and they had "no further information available" about this railcar, other than it arrive at 10 pm on 3/10.

So, who knows how long until it gets here, whereever here is (Baltimore, Philadelphia, the Moon??)

I'm not holding my breath.

Mine was made in Mexico. It was put on one of the Mexican railways (TFM) at the plant in Saltillo, the transferred to Union Pacific in Laredo, and to Norfolk Southern in New Orleans for the trip to Winston Salem, NC. To my knowledge it never left the original rail car.

Here is tracking info:

TFM (Mexico)

http://www.etfm.com.mx/localizacion_carros/default.asp?lang=1

UP (Central to Western US)

http://my.uprr.com/pet/

NS (Eastern US)

Call Voice response system at: (800) 241-9230

When it answers say "location"

Then at the response say the car initials and at the next prompt say or type in the car number.

The initials are the letters at the beginning of the rail car number.

More info (regarding ststus, etc. )

I think you can use the NS voice response system to track it anywhere, because I just tracked a rail car that a guy asked me about in Feb. , that was on NS at the time-now it's in Utah headed for CA on UP-so they interchange some info-

Thanks for those prompts for the NS Voice Response system. It gave me the same information as the CSX line - to Greenwood, SC, with no further information.

My status went KZ last night at 7:48 PM CST. To be loaded on railcar by 6:00 PM CST this evening at Saltillo. The insight website says it will go to Laredo, then to East Saint Louis, and then to Centreville OH with "railcar interchanged" at each step. How do I know which rail systems it will be on for this route?

I assume it will start on TFM. Will Insight show what rail company?

That's more info than mine show. All Insight shows for me is "railcar placed" on 2/27 in Vera Cruz.

I had to find ALL the rest of the infor myself. I think mine was originally supposed to go by ship, then for some reason, at the last minute, went by rail, but no one entered any rail info into Insight. My guess, anyway.

If you get a railcar number off Insight you can track it at the TFM link in my previous post-Ohio is not within the UP service area, so it will be transferred to NS or CSX-NS transfer point for mine was New Orleans. The railcar number is the key to track it...

Transfer point for mine as well was New Orleans -transferred to CSX. Now, it's in the Bermuda Triangle after coming into Dixiana Yard, Greenwood (Columbia), SC. No further tracking info available.

My new truck has just left Mingo Texas (just north of Fort Worth) Railcar # is TTGX981977. It must have been on a RR siding for most of a day but seems to be moving now. Oo. Oo.

I'm going to check my car tomorrow - TTGX159899 - better get moving from South Carolina!

On edit - Gonzo, when was your truck KZ (factory released), when was it railcar placed, do you know?

Do not know of the KZ release.

It has however made it to Coffeyvil Kansas. A very good sign. It seems to be making very good time today.

I called CSX 800 number today. Car seems to have moved - arrived in Case, SC, last night, 3/14.

So, it is moving, but, has been in SC for 5 days now. Anyone know where Case is? Can't find it on the map.

Update:

Cayce is only a couple miles NORTH of Dixiana. SAME ZIP code. Took my railcar a couple days to go a couple miles.

On edit: IF is indeed on that railcar. According to Insight, it was "loaded on vessel, Vera Cruz" TODAY 3/15.

NOW I'm wondering if it was supposed to be on that car, but instead has been sitting on a lot in Vera Cruz, someone notices, says "oops" and loads it on a ship today.

DC's shipping "system" leaves ALOT to be desired.
