Gotta love a good set of bars It's amazing how big of a diffrence they can make. I have EEP bars on mine Ill see if I can get some pic's up for you guys.

Thanks Rob. I sent Hammer a PM last night and he replied. I saw his sweet looking set of bars on his album. I was album surfing last night

Expect to get a call from me in the next few weeks :)

What Jim said . These traction bars will flex in the center. That's the difference in "ladder bars" and traction bars. Ladder bars are just that. Lattace, braces, between two bars connected at 3 points. Traction bars at 2 spots. Traction bars need to be held as short as possible. The flex problem. Ladder bars? How long do you want them. For the cost of traction bars I just as soon have a set of the "slapper bars". They move with the axle and so the same thing.

My thoughts.

Here is a picture of a set of bars that I got from Rob. . I had to order another set of U bolts from him because the stock bolts were too short. .

I had some serious axle roll issue with our new "heavier" 5th wheel so I figures I had better do something before I broke something. Not only did the stop the axle hop. . the truck even rides better unloaded!

I had NO... fitting/installation issues. . they mounted up great...

Now what excuse/issue do I need to give my wife so that she will allow me to order my towing twins! :-laf :-laf :-laf

I hope your talking about the bars Jim has, that are flexing in the middle?

The difference in traction bars and ladder bars is that the ladder bars (built and attached correctly) do not let the alxe rotate at all, meaning steetablity is out the window. My bars allow the needed rotation, without getting carried away, they will handle the abuse of a puller, but remain stellar on the street, and don't flex, bend, crack frames, or otherwise.

I'll be out of town for a few days, so if I don't reply(which I'm sure I'll need to :) ), I will when I get back.

Take care guys, Rob

Here is a shot of the bars Vaughn is mentioning of the bars on my truck. I had not made any posts on these bars as I wanted to see how much of a difference they reaaly made. I am absolutely amazed at how much more drivable the truck has become and the hopping experience on slick grass or the wheel hop on pavement is eliminated. the allow for full extension of the front shocks under heavy acceleration and allow the weight to be transfered to where you need it most, the back axle. I called Rob about 2 weeks into having them on and we had a long disscussion on how impressed I was and he challenged me to remove them and find out how much they helped. I'll say they did not last off my truck very long,1 day was it,and back on they went.

The turn around once they were ordered was about 2 weeks to my door as Rob had the powder coater hold him up some,no big deal to me. They came in the colors I asked for, ready to bolt on. It took me more time to drag out the tools than to mount them. Once on the truck I torqued the rear bolts to the factory specs for the rear u-bolts and torqued the ones in the frame to 100 ft lbs. They have not loosened up as of this writing. These bars are the best thing I have even added to my truck and I would recommend them to anyone.

Thanks ROB for a quality product that allows my truck to do what its supposed to... ... ... ... ... ... ... Andy

VAUGHN, I've been in touch with Rob and something may be in the works. Stay tuned. Jeff

Rob, will your traction bars work on 2WD trucks? I been looking for a set for a while but like other guys, I did not know what would really work.

bars

You guys might want to also try Greg Long lsfarm here on the tdr he is also making the traction bars for are trucks I got mine from him and they are great and i think the price was a little better than the compition pm lsfarm what a great person to deal with just my 2cents Aaron

I'll second the suggestion to contat Greg @ Great Lakes Diesel Works.

I have been contemplating the purchase of a set of traction bars especially since seeing the group purchase going on but then I remembered seeing Greg selling a couple sets of traction bars in Muncie for $500. They looked to be very similar to a few of the pics posted in this thread as well as many of the other bars I have seen while crawling under trucks :)

I asked Greg if $500 was a special price for Muncie but apparently $500 is the everyday price for the traction bars being offered by Great Lakes Diesel Works. I wonder if he would be willing to offer a discount for a group purchase?

first off i want to thank rob for busting his butt to get my traction bars out so i could use them this weekend. they work great, and i couldn't be happier. the 1st thing i will tell you is these things are heavy!! the quality is top notch.

if you are on the fence about these bars just get them they are worth every penny!

jim

My bars from Rob are sitting on the workbench right now, and CUMINNTSTRKN is right, those suckers are heavy. :)

Can't wait to get them on and see how good they work, cause I have some serious axle wrap on and off the street right now.

Thanks Rob.
