Ladder bars are best. If you put a bar from the bottom of the axle some where (like the bottom of the spring plates) to the frame it will stop the twisting of the rear axle housing that causes wheel hop. Traction bars (assuming you mean the bolt on kind that have snubbers that contact the leaf springs) do the same thing but in this case longer is always better, I think that's why ladder type bars work better.
 
Thanks for your thoughts. I was referring to ladder bars. Any experience on which ones are best? Will they stop the wheel hop or just reduce it? If reduce it, then by about how much?
