We are looking for advice on Tractor Mounted PTO driven tillers for our Ford tractor, The reason for use of the Ford, is one the IH has lots to do and changing implements is something that if can be avoided it would be nice. The other reason is the PTO HP on the Ford is better suited to one of the more affordable Tillers rather than the HP of the IH tractor which would cost way more. Its not like we are going to use this EVERYDAY ALL DAY.

You guys came up with the BEST post hole digger so I thought I would again toss this into the arena for conversation. The ones that we have been looking at are. The King is Gear driven tines and the Phoenix is chain. We have looked to this man before and have had Great dealings with him. His advice was the Phoenix even with the chain drive.

I'd help out but in my area, we call the backhoe a tiller since a traditional tiller doesn't fair so well with VW bug sized boulders lurking.

Our dirt is all the top soil that has washed down out of the mountains, along with lots of sand we have put in TONS and TONS of top soil and are lucky enough to have a never ending supply of Mulch makings with the green clippings, manure and what ever else the Sargent in Charge tells me to and then mix up ever so often. She must know something cause it seems to change into some good looking garden mulch when plow it under with a two bottom plow and mules and then She want's this new tiller to get the top 7.5" to be smooth as a baseball diamond, and back again with the mules and a hiller to mound up the garden rows for her plants.

The tiller will make the need of a drag harrow or disc harrow disappear to bust up the clods.

Big,

Here is ours. It's a 5' that my brother-in-law purchased 7 or 8 years ago. It's seen a lot of use with us. We have quite a lot of rocks and it still does a great job.

Pictured here it is mounted on my 5303 Deere. It is 55 HP at the PTO.

Cool Im leaning towards the gear drive rather than a chain so the King kutter looks to be the choice in the price range were looking at. I want to get as big one as possible within the HP range of the tractor. Penny has opened up her garden to again as big as it was, so should be about 4 acres. We aren't out of canned & frozen foods but are close enough for concern. Our group of people has grown so we will defiantly need to do some more canning, her kitchen garden is a 1/2 acre that she prepares out of daily.

Thanks for the info good to have FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE!!
