What Was The Fruit?

conservative apologetic onfessions

He gang I'm having a bit of trouble with my tractor and I'm hoping someone has run into this before.

The machine is an old 2300 series IH and the problem is that the clutch is stuck. When you push on the pedal the clutch won't release.

I removed the inspection cover and about a gallon of water came out, so I guess rain is getting in there somehow. Anyhow I looked up in the bellhousing and all the linkage is working and the throw out bearing is compressing the clutch cover like it should. I think that the surface of the flywheel and clutch cover may be rusted up since water came out the inspection plate.

I have tried getting it moving and pressing the clutch and brakes at the same time and all that does is kill the engine.

This tractor is not worth enough to me to split it in half and take the clutch apart, so I'm looking for a 'shadetree' suggestion as far as getting the clutch disk to resume a separate identity from the flywheel/pressure plate.

Thanks,

Mike

If you could get it rolling in a high gear and keep the pedal pushed in, I would think it would break loose.

Maybe call Peter @ SBC and see if he knows how to break free a clutch plate from the flywheel and or pressure plate. Sounds like with water sitting in there it probably rusted it all together pretty well.
