As you see my signature, you see that I'm not stock but not a dragster either. I want to lower my EGTs and was wondering if a stock HX35 will help over the HY35. I can't afford a 40 now and don't want to have alot of lag. Give me your opinion from guys that had done this change.

Chris, you need more than 26 out of the little guy, you should be seeing 32-34 pretty easily. That alone will drop the temps 100-150*. Check for leaks and the normal causes, then plug the wastegate line completely and see were it goes. With the wastegate blocked it should go over 32 easily and peak somewhere in the 38ish range. If you find no leaks and you get full boost with the plug in you are going to have to adust the wastegate. Easily done really. Holler if you have any ?'s.

I have the soild line to the waste gate accuator. I could wire it from opening and see what I get. I thought that the HX 35 would be a better deal. What size HX do you have on your '99 Howard?

Mine is a stock HX-35/12cm. The HX would be a better deal for the top end of your power range, if you are pulling heavy and hammering it. I really don't think it is needed for 99% of use though at your fueling level.

I am wondering where the rest of the boost you should be making is going.

If your truck can sit for a week at a time yank that HY off of it and ship it to me, I will swap it onto mine and send you my HX to try, at least that way you will be sure the stock HX is going to help enough to justify the price tag.

I think that I am going to do the switch. There is a guy that will buy my HY. He is adapting them to a jet ski or snowmobile..... I'm not sure. Thanks for the offer Howard.
