No Fuel Pump - Runs OK

My '07 is nearing 100,000 miles and I predict my auto trans will need to be repaired/replaced in the not too distant future. Should I save up and put in an upgraded trans, such as Goerend's, or trade it in for a new truck with a better trans? If I trade, I want to get into a CC, single cab, short wheelbase and put a welding bed on it. I would be getting an Aisin trans in that unit. I haven't ever gotten fuel mileage to brag about in my '07, so hopefully won't be disappointed with the 6. 7. Any thoughts?

We have an 08 5500, that has the Aisin Transmission... . its by far the best transmission we've had in a truck in a long time... that truck now has 113K miles and runs fine... we keep our trucks for 500K miles so its going to be around for a long time... .

Since these are business trucks we try and keep the body up... they all have flat beds on them... . I kept all the 1 gen trucks for 500K and than changed to Fords... kept them and now have the 3rd gen... . I wouldn't think of trading much sooner... . its the low cost per mile we're after... .

The 6. 7 will cost more to operate. Diffidently get the Asian. If You can hold out 2 years You will see the the NEW generation of Diesels... You will not be disappointed, weather or NOT Dodge will have these NEW High-Tec motors in the Ram Line remains to be seen. Most the emission junk on the Blue-Tec motors of Today will be gone.

What new "high tech" motors are you referring to? I peruse the DTF every day and have seen no mention of such a thing. I would consider the engines made today already "high tech". The only improvement I think you'll see is if some of our elected officials with a basic understanding of science can roll back some of the Punishment Agency's standards. You never know, it could happen, as Bush III is talking about FE standards for OTR trucks.

In any case, I'm not going to hold my breath, and I would recommend that you don't either.

No... I have seen Them. . The Global Market will Require NEW Emission in 2013 ,So If your The power plant Builder (World wide) You will need to meet this. The technology exists it was the $$$$$$$$$$,it was lower cost just to add to the current versions of Power plant then to redesign and develop. (Big mistakes B/C stupid decisions made by incompetent and intellectually educated fools).

I don't know of any strong arguments for or against trading your '07 for a new Ram with the ISB6. 7 engine.

If you want one and want to spend the money it is something you can choose to do. If you prefer to save your money and run your current truck to 200k miles or beyond that is also a decision you can choose.

Your current truck with 48RE will probably continue giving you good service for a long time if you service it regularly as required.

Thanks for all the replies. I know ultimately it is my decision. This is the 2nd auto transmission I have owned, out of 7,as far as my work trucks go. The first was a '75 Dodge W250 behind a 440 V-8. My current truck has served me well, with only 3 trips to the dealer, 2 for injectors, and one for the fan clutch. I have had the transmission serviced at the dealer twice and it's due for one now. The only other item outside of routine maintenance is a brake job a few thousand miles ago. I'm sure it could use shocks, front end alignment, and I guess a valve adjustment. On the fuel economy, it never has risen much since the very first tank at 10 mpg's. Well, percentage wise, I guess it has. It's up to around 13 now at about 97,000 miles. I guess it could still be breaking in? The '93 6. 5 GMC really jumped up at about 22,000 miles to around 22-25 mpg's, but I don't remember from what it jumped from.
