This truck is just too friggin' high. Am going to take the 6" blocks out of the rear, but also need to deal with the front so they're even (not sure how to do that?)

Anyone done this before? Suggestions?

Wanna trade blocks???

This is a '92. 5 2500 4X4

EDIT: ONE CONDITION TO THE ABOVE TRADE IS THAT SOMEONE NEEDS TO SUGGEST HOW TO LOWER THE FRONT TO MATCH THE 3" LOWER REAR WITH 3" BLOCKS INSTEAD OF THE 6"

DEAL. I have a set of 3" blocks removed from my 89. Where do you live ?

One condition that I will edit the above post to include... . , I need advice on how to balance out the front end to match the 3" lower rear end?

The front doesn't sag on this truck, so taking inches off the rear will (should?) make the front sit higher than the rear.

I'm not adverse to removing spring leaves to accomplish this (considering how this rides, I don't believe that a spring or two will affect my monthly dentist bill for re-fillings!)

I don't know how to help ya there. Question I ask is how much higher is the rear than the front? If its at least 3" higher you'll be fine, after switching you'll be level. I'd measure the distance between each wheelwell and the ground. You'll be dropping 3" in the rear. I don't think I'd remove any leaves in the front, as our springs are already maxed out with the heavy Cummins up there.

If you don't have blocks in the front under the springs you will need to replace the front springs to get it back to stock height. Somebody correct me but I believe the stock rear blocks are 3" adn to level the truck after a 3-4" front lift the 6" rears or a 6" recurve was used.

Depending on the $$ available and the imagination of the individual I have seen blocks used in the front so you might want to check and see if that is the case here.

It would depend on if your truck has stock front leaves or lift springs. If they are stock, you will probably end up pretty level after the swap. If the front are lifted, you will need to put stock or shorter lift springs in. We have a 93 here at work with factory 6" blocks. The front is lower than the rear. If the rear blocks were swapped to 3" it would be level (or close).

Travis. .

Problem is, it's level now with the factory 6" blocks at the rear.

I want it overall lower and taking 3" out of the rear will make the front 3" high so I'll have to lower that too.

Maybe I can have the front's re-arc'd to remove 3" of lift to make it even with the rear?

BTW, bgilbert, I still want to trade. Maybe I can pay you for the 3" blocks so I can have them when I do the removal then send you the 6" for the same amount?

Time for a 2 wheel drive. Blocks under the front springs with a 1000+ lb motor is NOT a good idea. There might be a small spacer or 1 or 2" block under there, but thats it. You still haven't said where you live??? This will determine if it will be economical to trade blocks. I had a set of 6"blocks shipped from Nebraska to Indiana and shipping was about $35. My blocks are not for sale. Will only trade, each person to pay shipping. Stock blocks on a xx-91 4x4 are 3". Stock size on a 92,93 4x4 are 6". Not sure if that applies to gassers as well.

Generally not without changing the length of the springs. The stock suspension was borderline on having enough travel NOT to ride like a lumber wagon. Flatten the springs and there was no suspension. Most of us are raising the trucks to give enough suspension travel to avoid having to see a chiropractor on a regular basis. Just why is the truck too high?

LOL!!! :-laf Didn't say it was a good idea. Just said its pretty common to 2" to 4" blocks under the front springs to raise the truck. Cheap fix and if all you do is run it around on the streets it works. You should see the axle wrap on one if you have enough power.
