Just wonderin' if anyone can tell me why the manual says no towing for first 500 miles? Anyone done it before the 500 mile limit? What are the cons of pulling with less than 500 miles? Thanks, Colby

I have always heard it is so the gears in the rear end get set properly. .

I managed to put in at least 500 empty miles before towing with both of mine. Didn't take much to find a reason to go for a ride.

Manual also says something about not towing over 50 miles per hour for a certain number of miles, I really wonder if anyone has ever followed that one. .

It is so the differential gears get to know each other. I towed slow for the first 500 miles of towing. It's not too hard in Oregon on 97; the speed limit is 55 and for a good part of it I was following my buddy in his big motorhome. I was told the engine itself does not need a breakin period.
