Well I went and done it!!! I traded my 2001. 5 HO 6 speed sport 2500 short bed for a 2004. 5 HO 600 6 speed 4door DRW. I got every bell and trinket you could put on one (leather heated power 6 ways, 6 disc changer, steering wheel mounted radio controls, etc) all I can say is HOLY SHEEP DIP what a truck!!!!!!. Man this thing is the smoothest running best riding truck I have ever had. :D :D :D . Just hope the MPG will get a little higher.

Congrats on the new ride! My 03 CTD has came up also on mpg, but has seemed to be more gradual since I have'nt towed that much. It would'nt hurt my feeling if it came up a little more with more mileage, but still mpg is a heck of a lot better than the gasser I had before. Oo.

Yes I would agree that that is on the poor side. Especially if those miles were under no load,ie. not pulling a trailer. My 04 was getting 14. 5 for the first 7000 miles or so, but that was pulling a car trailer, with 2 to4 tons on it most of the time. However, since then I have installed a TAG, and have 15000 miles on it, and under the same conditions I now picked up 1 mpg loaded. Running empty, I got as high as 21, on a recent trip, where as I had only been getting about 17 (empty) before. I feel that I am still on the low end of the mileage spectrum, because there are a bunch out there that get every bit as good of mileage with 4x4s, and pulling big wind grabbing fifth wheel campers.

I do, however, believe that yours will be getting better as time goes by. Keep us posted ok. :)
