Trailer brake short circuit

Hey guys! i have a problem with my oddyssey brake controller. when i press on the brake peddle it shows a short circuit code. now i thought it was the trailer, but i used another truck on the same tt and the brakes worked fine. now i hooked up to the old mans fifth wheel and used the plug in bed and the same thing. when i use the manual slide lever on the controller the brakes work and when i release it shows SC again. guess ill check again for it grounding or wiring issues somewhere!

We've had problems with the cross over wires in the trailer where they run through the axle... in one side and out the other... what was happening to us. . was the wires had rubbed through the insulation... . and would short out when it felt like it... . we had fits with this... . once we found it... we showed it to several of our customers and some of our vendors... none had seen the problem before... . anyway... your issue reminded me of this... . if you have wires that cross between the wheels in the axle you might think of looking...



We have 4 trailers and we pulled all the wires and ran them where we could do a physical check on them every 5 or 6 months... .

yeah i was reading that thread, thought that could be it. but i hooked a test light to the brake wire (blue) right out of the brake controller which made the controller light up as if it was connected to a trailer. and the same thing happens. shows a SC code. i messed with the gain and level of power button (1 thru 4) and sometimes it would show voltage on the display, but then throw the SC code again. its a brand new unit.

well i figured it out. ran a new battery lead to the brake controller and all is good. guess the old one had a short somewhere between the battery and controller.
