Breakaway battery wiring Q

I just picked up my new flat bed car trailer and have found after going through the trailer that the battery for the break-away switch has no charge. The unit is a Tekonsha brand. I looked at the instruction manul that came in the battery case any found that there were two different kits. One had a in line battery charger and the other did not. The kit that I have does not have the charger. Does anyone know where to purchase the charger. It appears to be a very compact unit that attaches in-line directly to the positive side of the battery.

FWIW, I take my batteries out during the winter when the trailers sit most of the time. About once a month, I throw the trickle charger on.

Anyway, if that battery is dead, you may want to see if it will take a charge before you pull. Might be a bad battery.

I just swapped out batteries on my trailer today. It came with a battery that required manual charging at least once a year. I upgraded to a battery that charges everytime I'm towing with the lights on. A standard 12v auto charger should suffice. Be careful of the amperage. Some trailer batteries can't take more than 2amps.

I have that charger thingy. It's about 2"x3" and came with my trailer. One side connects to 12v+, the other side has two leads, one for each side of the battery.

Mine appears to be functioning, ie there's a charge on the battery, but I have the problem with the 12v+ lead shorting to ground in my other post.
