Trailer E TRack Strapping

Anyone ever use a system call E Track? It seems to be a system that looks like a railroad track but you can stap car tires down so that you do not need to hook into the frame and D rings.



Anyone ever use this system? Does it work well? How strong is the track?

Our Snap-On tool dealer uses that stuff to hold down tool boxes in his van, pretty good stuff IMO. I have 3 straps made for that kind of track and would like to mount the track on my utility trailer for hauling yard waste.



Just need to get off my butt and source out some track.

Yes, I've used it for about a year and a half now and am very pleased with it. I use it for strapping equipment down, but it's really intended for tie-down of motorcycles and ATVs, which should give you some insight into its strength. It's stout stuff.



They make two kinds, a "horizontal" and a "vertical" which describes the direction of the slots (i. e. , parallel to or perpendicular to the lay of the e-track). Here in the US, you can get it from many trailer shops, or from Tractor Supply Co (although in smaller lengths). Suspect that you may have luck with a similar trailer or ag-oriented store there in the frozen north.

E track is good stuff. I used it when I was driving a mail truck. The straps are stout and the ratchet system is stout too. THE RAILS must be installed properly and securely and don't buy the cheap straps.

Good point, you want the right track for the application. I found E-track listed at McMaster-Carr in both styles:

ditto on E-track and justharris. ATVs, dirt bikes, sandrail, moving boxes... I've used it in my 24' enclosed for a couple years and it works great. I have straps as well as anchor points to give you a D-ring on the floor. I haven't used any yet, but there are some nice tire straps that allow you to hold a vehicle down by the tires instead of the suspension or frame (nice for fancy cars or my powdercoated sandrail frame)
